I've heard in my travels, 'When you think of Indianapolis wedding venues, you might imagine more charming barns surrounded by nature or lovely churches with stained glass windows.' While these locations have a unique and special charm...and I absolutely love capturing your wedding day memories there...many of my brides come to me looking for something that reflects their high-end sophisticated style. With this in mind, I wanted to showcase one of the newest, up-and-coming wedding venues in Indianapolis to show not only my local brides but brides who are looking for a one-of-a-kind destination wedding just what a high-fashion wedding day can look like. I called some of my favorite wedding vendors in Indianapolis to come together and bring my vision to life.
Location, location, location!
I love the look and feel of dramatic lighting and how this plays into powerful images that have become a trademark in my work. When thinking of a wedding venue in Indianapolis that would give me exactly that and then some, Iron Works Hotel Indianapolis immediately came to mind. With their incredibly ornate style, eclectic art, luxurious furnishings and exquisite attention to detail in every room from floor to ceiling, I couldn’t wait to get started!
The look was decidedly sophisticated and cosmopolitan as I really appreciate the quality of beautiful dress design and fabric textures. I contacted Nancy Homsy, of Nancy’s Bridal Boutique about the look I was searching for and went to take a look at some of her incredibly diverse collection of dresses. I looked at a handful of beautiful gowns that had gorgeous lace and plenty of beading but didn’t pull my entire vision together before finding The Dress, a Stephen Yearick gown she had on display in the window.
Because the dress itself had two looks (I loved that option with the amazing train!) I planned to have two looks with the model as well. My hair stylist, Dee Lanee, and makeup artist, Danelle French, knew just what I was looking for and transformed the model exquisitely to capture the mood of each look of the dress.
For the groom’s look, I wanted something classic, modern and with lots of texture in the fabrics. My good friend Jordan Stiegman of King’s Image by Jordan caters to personalized style in men’s fashion and we put together a perfect compliment to the dress.
Details, details, details!
Did I mention details? I love them! Nothing says elegance like the perfect arrangement of flowers, or a beautifully decorated cake, or all the accessories with your wedding invitation suite. I pulled together some of the best talent in Indianapolis to put together the perfect vision of elegance for this style shoot.
Just look at how beautifully they delivered! Linda Batker of Accent Floral Designs created a lovely cascade of flowers in the bouquet, the elegant boutonniere, and provided some special embellishments on that delicious cake provided by our friends at the Gallery Pastry Shop (yes, we ate it!). Kaitlin Robinson of Athena Street Creative designed the stylish invitation suite and included all the extra details that I love. Every detail the team created blended together seamlessly.
One of my favorite details is in the bling and I contacted one of the best custom jewelers in the city, Nick Blum of Blumlux to provide the rings. He came through with some gorgeous settings and I couldn't have been happier with the way the rings pulled the look together. Stylish, sophisticated and exactly what I was looking for!
It’s all about teamwork
Whether you are planning a style shoot like this or your very own fairytale wedding day, having the right team is paramount to the success of the day. If you are looking for some exceptional talent for your wedding day team, remember three things….STYLE, PERSONALITY, and PROFESSIONALISM are the biggest things to look for. Each vendor should also match the style and the vision that you have in mind for your wedding. Take time to sit with them, to show them your saved boards on Pinterest and meet over coffee or lunch so that they can get to know you better and get a clearer idea of your dream wedding day and just how to make that dream come true for you.
